Nurin case, police finally do right thing

Finally the police has got it right.

Instead of focussing on the parent’s supposed negligence – which is hogwash because Section 1 Wangsa Maju has a a kampun-like environment; I see children roaming around all day – they’ve gone after the real bad guys.

Malaysiakini has just reported a breakthrough in the case.

Five people have been detained. Apparently someone came through with a tip off.

I hope they get the animals behind this tragedy.

Why the Burmese monks marched

The videos and photos of the marches by the brave monks of Burma have really moved me. You must understand the context of what I mean by bravery. The military regime is extremely brutal. For example, then military dictator General Ne Win was reported to have said in 1988, “When the soldiers shoot, they shoot straight.” A few days later, the soldiers proved that by shooting dead more than three thousand unarmed peacefully protesting people.” And yet, the monks have arisen twenty years later and pressed their case for democracy.

Look how the people protect their beloved monks.

The Bahai Writings say, “The source of courage and power is the promotion of the Word of God, and steadfastness in His Love.” When you think about what the Burmese monks are doing, one begins to understand this quotation. The essence of Buddhism, like any other religion, is unity, peace, love and justice. If you have been following what’s happening in Burma, you would know that the monks have come out and in the face of extreme personal risk peacefully highlighted that the people of their nation are suffering injustice.

This is the moral strength that is driving the monks of Burma to face up to injustice in bravest of ways. The junta of Burma may have the guns and tanks but they don’t have this moral power.

It may take a long time or it will be very soon, but there’s no doubting which side will ultimately win.

This is it!

I’ve never got down to blogging for any extended periods of time mainly because it gets difficult to write anymore when you’ve spent the whole blooming day editing and writing other stuff.

But I’m going to try damn hard to blog now and it’s all because of those extremely brave monks in Burma.

They have risen up as the voice of a nation struggling for freedom. In the process, I’ve realized that more voices, however inadequate, are needed here too.
